AFLG 2021 R3 – Kiel
In unprecedented waters, the Dockers found themselves needing to win on Saturday as well as relying on other results to go their way to make it into the AFLG final series.
Heading up to Kiel to face the Koalas, the newest team in the competition, the boys were keen to put together 4 quarters of quality football, something that they haven’t achieved so far this season.
From the first bounce, Hamburg was in control and the ball movement from Defence to forward were at times clinical. Returning big defender F Cordts was cutting everything off down back which resulted in many scores, none bigger than D Park’s first goal for the club in his first game back since 2018.
The Koalas were simply overwhelmed and the experience was showing for the Dockers who scored freely from quarter time. To Kiel’s credit they never stopped trying and their spirit in the game and support from the boundary was nothing short of extraordinary. In the end it was a comfortable win for the Dockers.
We would like to thank Kiel for hosting us and wish them all the best for the off season. They are certainly building something special up there.
Results did go our way in the end, so we now have to sit and wait to see how the South Division pans out to see who we will play in the Semi Final in five weeks time!
